About

Built for the art
the feed skips.

Galera exists for one reason: so that the artists you love can afford to keep being the artists you love.

The name comes from the Spanish galera — a galley, a working vessel. We liked the honesty of it. This is not a museum; it is a working ship, and the artists are the crew that keeps it moving.

The deal is simple and old-fashioned: artists post their finished work publicly, full-size, for everyone. The people who want more — the process, the files, the votes, the live sessions — pay a few dollars a month directly to the artist. Artists keep 92% of every pledge. The remaining 8% keeps the lights on, the servers fast and the moderators paid.

We do not run an engagement algorithm. The front page is curated by people, the feed is chronological, and nothing you see is promoted because somebody paid us. Art competes on one metric here: whether people love it.

What we believe, in one line: the feed rewards the first half-second of a painting; supporters pay for the other three weeks.

A small pledge is a tip. That same pledge times two thousand people is a salary, and a salary is creative freedom.
